“The view from above was worth the pain of the climb.” A quote that popped into my head today after climbing a 500 foot high hill this morning on my bike.
Rarely do I take the time to enjoy anything in life as my mind is always focused on what’s next, but thanks to the 90 degree weather, i had no choice but to slow down once I reached the peak.
Taking in the view became a great metaphor for business & life in general as the journey to success is often long, hard, frustrating and painful. However, once you achieve the result you want, you realize that it was more than worth it.
We tend to let pain stick in our minds more than pleasure. I’m not sure why this is but I’m sure someone smarter than I can explain it to you. (By the way if you know the answer please leave a comment below because I’d love to hear it). But, when you look at the bigger picture, if you have to put yourself through a little bit of intense pain now, in order to gain long-term pleasure, it’s very hard to understand why most people give up.
