STOP making excuses and start finding solutions. If you can commit to that then the time taken to try and fail and try and fail and try and finally succeed will be shorter than the time you spent planning and waiting for the perfect situation because trust me you’ll be waiting for a very long time.

If I told you that you had to wait for the perfect situation before taking the leap of faith to follow your dreams would you actually do it? Probably not. Why? Well because perfect situations don’t just happen, you have to make them happen. With that being said waiting for the perfect situation is a common excuse that people use in order to avoid taking action but not admitting that they are afraid.

Don’t Fear, Fear

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being afraid as fear is a natural occurrence whenever you are doing something that you‘ve never done before. However, as Will Smith once said (after jumping out of a plane and facing his fear of heights), “on the other side of fear are the most beautiful things in the world.” Right now I want you to take a break from reading this article and think about the best moments of your life and how you felt right before. For me personally, I was afraid during the birth of both of my sons, I was scared to ask my wife to marry me and I was certainly uneasy when I decided to quit my jobs and follow my dreams of becoming a professional trader. Those were three of the biggest turning points in my life and what do they all have in common? Me being scared to death beforehand.

2 Steps to Success

If you want to be successful you have to do two things, 1) have confidence in yourself and 2) be adaptable. Having confidence in yourself is key because that’s what will allow you to jump off that proverbial cliff and say to yourself “I’m not sure what plan is to land safely, but I trust that at some point I’ll figure it out.” Being able to adapt is important because very rarely will your plan A work perfectly. Trust me no business started off perfectly, but what allowed those owners to become successful was their ability to learn from their mistakes and make the proper adjustments on the fly. This is also something I experienced when starting both my real estate investment and money management businesses and if you’d like to hear more about it you can check it out in the podcast episode below.

The moral of the story is to STOP making excuses and start finding solutions. If you can commit to that then the time taken to try and fail and try and fail and try and finally succeed will be shorter than the time you spent planning and waiting for the perfect situation because trust me you’ll be waiting for a very long time.
